This holiday season in the Houston area is going to be bigger and brighter than ever! I’ve rounded up a list of the best Christmas light displays in and around the greater Houston area, from decked-out neighborhoods to must-see events! Our list of the best Christmas lights to includes essential favorites amongst Houstonians (looking at you Zoo Lights) as well as a few new additions that caught our eye (Hello, floating through a winter wonderland on a Texas shaped lazy river)!

City Lights Downtown Holiday Magic

 

 

Downtown Houston is going all in on transforming the area into the ultimate holiday destination! City Lights Downtown Holiday Magic has eight unique themed villages stretching from Discovery Green to the Theater District. Some of the most highly anticipated holiday lights include Market Square Park’s largest mistletoe in Texas, Santa’s Village at Main Street Square, and Bagby Street’s 80’ light tunnel.

Texas Winter Lights at Marriott Marquis

 

 

Float the Texas shaped lazy river (heated to 80 degrees) under the archway of lights or experience the interactive walk-through at Marriott’s Grove of Trees. The Marquis Houston has converted their legendary downtown rooftop into a full-scale winter wonderland with Christmas movie nights, nightly snowfall, lit-up lawn games, and over 30 festive beverages to choose from!  

 

Winter Wonderlawn at POST Houston

 

 

POST is joining the Downtown Houston holiday lights celebration by decking out their 5-acre rooftop park with 100’000+ lights, a gigantic Christmas tree, and holiday themed activations with panoramic views of the Houston skyline.

 

Winter Wonderlawn is a free event that runs through the end of December.

 

Zoo Lights

 

 

A Houston family favorite holiday tradition is back at the Houston Zoo! This year’s Zoo Lights brings back the highly anticipated Holiday Grove, Flamingo Terrace, and Santa’s Workshop, while also adding a few notable new additions including an infinity tunnel and interactive dance floor.

River Oaks

 

If you want to see one of Houston’s most beautiful neighborhoods transformed into a magical Christmas Village, head to one of Houston’s most prominent neighborhoods. River Oaks residents spare no expense decking out their extravagant homes and towering oak trees into an elegant winter wonderland.

 

River Oaks Christmas Light Tip: Take a self-guided tour through the inner-loop Houston neighborhood with the best Christmas lights!  Start at River Oaks Country Club and wind your way through River Oaks to uncover street after street of bright holiday lights. River Oaks Blvd, Inwood Drive, Willowick, and Del Monte are prime streets. Make sure to see the famous River Oaks Santa House at the corner house at Del Monte and Mockingbird!

The Light Park Katy & Spring

 

 

Head to Typhoon Texas in Katy for the world’s “longest holiday light tunnel” with millions of LED lights synchronized to music or visit Hurricane Harbor Splashtown for their mile-long drive-through light show.

 

Sugar Land Holiday Lights at Constellation Field

 

 

Holiday lights take over Constellation Field with over 3 million lights, a 40’ light-up tree, and 10 themed areas offering food, movie nights, visits from Santa, and a carnival!  

 

Galaxy Lights at Space Center Houston

 

 

Head to Space Center Houston for an out-of-this-world light experience! Galaxy Lights features multiple high-tech light shows where lights suspended above the Main Plaza move in choreographed sequences set to holiday music, a light tunnel, an indoor meteor shower, and laser-etched sculptures depicting different constellations.
