Houston Dominates National Ranking for Top-Selling Master-Planned Communities

Homebuyers continue to seek out brand-new homes in Houston’s top suburban areas! Our city has officially become the U.S. leader in home sales within master-planned communities, according to the latest report from the residential real estate consulting firm, RCLCO. Houston was the top-performing metro area, with 12 communities making the list of the Top 50, boasting nearly 8,300 homes sold – or 23% of all new home sales across the nation.

On the national stage, new home sales among the 50 Top-Selling Master-Planned Communities increased by nearly 14% in 2023 compared to 2022’s numbers.

Why Is New Construction All the Rage?

Houston homebuyers are attracted to brand-new homes in master-planned communities in the area’s top suburban markets as they struggle with a lack of inventory and finding affordably priced options in the existing home sales market.

Want to know what else? Homebuilders continue to offer financing incentives to make new home purchases more affordable and attractive, such as buying down mortgage rates AND contributing toward closing costs.

Houston-area developers also continue to invest in resort-style amenities and other infrastructure upgrades to generate more sales.
